The scenes in which she chops up her dead boyfriend.
- A close up shot of her face, smoking a cigarette, dark light, non-diegetic music used, she's rocking back and forth. The motif of the odd music, the rhythm attributed to LR as a the film director. Long shot used to the photographic elements of LR. Emotionless expression, shows the strangeness of MC and supported by SM as the actress.
- The shot change; we are aligned with MC by the music changing and getting louder. Ironically a romantic song is used, shows the symbolism of how MC is concerning the death of her boyfriend. Once again, very photographic elements, split-focus shots which is a motif of LR's work. The mirror makes the characterization of MC very strange; she views herself semi-naked in the mirror, the very bare minimum makes the audience try and understand how she's feeling. The sunglasses; are they to protect her eyes or to make her feel brave in the face in what she's doing? Almost dimming the emotional impact. The use of the liquor, again, is it to make the emotional impact lesser, or is it towards the type of character MC is?
- The distant shot of her beginning the chopping of her boyfriend presents the type of lighting use, helps the spectator focus. But distance is created for the bare necessity of her emotions. The juxtaposition of the music and the slow repetitive movements of MC makes the scene very grim to watch, almost frustrating. The taped music box makes it important to her. Like LR likes to use, she's very subtle yet blunt with whats happening in this scene. Blood is barely used, however its oddly blunt in the way MC is just chopping up her boyfriend. We are prolonged to the effect of the chopping up through the use of a long shot.
- LR makes the end towards this scene very confusing, as the music gets louder, there is a mid-shot of MC after she's finished her work. Having just her head in the centre, makes us focus on SM's expression. She's smiling, probably for the first time in the movie, but it confuses the spectator as to why? Is she relieved its over? Thats he's dead and gone? That the song's finished? We don't know due to LR's subtly of cinematography.
