In this scene Morvern buries her dead, now chopped up boyfriend in the middle of no where.
- The music is incredibly different to the previous scene of her cutting him up. Its much lighter, not upbeat, but however gives a different impression to the context of Morvern's emotions. It also build tension in a way through the slow pace build up.
- The split focus shot is used again, we can see MC is carrying something, and we can see she's struggling in a way uphill and through the forrest. No expositional dialogue or suggestion as to where she is. However the spectator gets the impression of what she's about to do through the narrative structure we know of death in film.
- The music player is significant again to the impression of MC's reaction to her boyfriends burial. Even though he requested she give him a funeral, she did the opposite. The then lack of the music develops our impression of MC. We see a very confused expression; that's odd considering her happiness of chopping him up. Maybe the actual burial, the loss is kicking in to her emotions?
- I think LR's motif and focus on childhood and growing up is used a lot in this scene. Her motif of the field that's also used in 'Kill the Day' and 'Small Deaths' gives me personally the impression that she's going back to her childhood or she's excited with nostalgia in a similar way. The red hat and chequered jumper follows our impression of the way she dresses, very child like and it follows the suit of our knowledge of her; socially realistic.
- The placement of MC actually burying her boyfriend is odd, as the grass covers the full view. Again, this is similar to the mirror in the previous scene. It makes us seem very disjointed from the action and the emotions this burial is causing, in the same way that's aligning us with MC, especially as it goes further out to a distant scenic shot.
- The running of MC through the field and the woods makes it seem as though she's happily running away from the problem. Just as she does when she goes to Spain and to the train station at the end of the movie. She's very much a traveller and will run away from danger or difficulty to experience things; however brave at the same time. It reflects childhood again as the diegetic music fades in. Its as if the peace is no longer disturbed for MC.
- LR is very focused on the surroundings of nature, particularly insects. The image of MC stroking a tree branch reflects this motif. The significant change in music, to a lot darker when the insects appear makes the concept a lot more important to both LR and MC.
